Just two days into December, the Republic of Congo’s Foukanda platform faces a loss of one oil and gas offshore worker. Like most offshore platform bad news, the Foukanda platform was also set ablaze. Despite efforts to immediately evacuate the area with fire, one of the 45 people aboard was still found dead while other five offshore workers suffered burns.
The Dangers of Offshore Life
Sadly, this scenario is not new to the oil rig industry. Over the course of 2016 and the years before it, the oil and gas industry has faced so many issues of unexpected blaze, both minor and major explosions, which resulted to injuries as well as multiple deaths.
Companies dealing with the drilling and exploration of gas have been called out several times because of safety concerns. As an oilrig company, several measures should be taken to ensure the workers’ safety. However, some companies come short when it comes to these things. Some companies fail to do minor but necessary protocols before sending out their workers to the field. With that, it usually ends with an injured worker or a dead body.
Usually, when faced with these injury and death issues, oil companies have been known to live a reputation of pressuring injured workers to waive them from liabilities. Of course this is because an injured worker suing the company for negligence is the last thing on the bucket lists of oil companies. They try to save their public relations by covering up their tracks through unfair negotiations. All these are done just to keep their reputation.
But today, when it comes to offshore injury legality, several injury law firms have made themselves available to those caught in the oilrig injury dilemma. This is great news since offshore workers will have greater chances of being properly compensated for the damages inflicted to them.
Legal Considerations of Offshore Injury
As we all know, being injured at sea may actually bring the worst of the worst to the worker and his family. Offshore injuries have the capability of ruining the worker’s chances of being able to work again. And with that loss of livelihood, the lives of those affected will definitely change. This is why several offshore workers who have experienced being injured while working have actually spoken up in hopes of spreading awareness about the importance of getting an offshore injury lawyer.
Most offshore injury workers may not realize how essential offshore injury legality is especially if these workers have constantly been kept safe during the times they boarded their vessels. However, we can all agree that we never really know what might happen tomorrow and the next days to come. An offshore worker may have been safe for the past 10 years but tomorrow’s safety is never guaranteed. And if they do find themselves in a situation wherein their injuries are not their fault nor nature’s, hopefully they deal with it in the best way possible; that is by getting an offshore injury lawyer. Without an offshore injury lawyer, an unfair treatment of the situation will probably to take place.
